This was what I received at first, read the following announcement:

Maintenance Date: 14th – 15th April 2007, GMT +0800
Maintenance Time: 7.00AM (14th Apr) – 7.00AM (15th Apr)

TMNet has scheduled a repair and audit activities in the CBJ1 Data Center (formerly known as MyLoca) that involved the whole Data Center. It is part of an ongoing effort to ensure the integrity and reliability of the electrical power system of the Data Center at all times. The agenda of the planned outage are as below:

1. Power Upgrade (4x PDU + 4xSTS – to cater for capacity requirement)
2. Repair / audit /retest (to resolve major outage on 16/9 and 3 /10)
3. Batteries replacement (end of lifespan for 816 units UPS batteries
need to be replaces)
4. Migration (re-cabling problematic power connection to new PDU/STS)
5. Installation of Monitoring Tools/probe and software
6. Megatest – assessment and audit 640 cables to the rack to check for
fitness (detect harmonic /voltage drop or leakage

Maintenance Impact:
=======================================
The maintenance will begin at 07.00AM Malaysian Time on Saturday, 14th April 2007. The work is expected to conclude within 24 hours, at approximately 07.00AM Malaysian Time, Sunday, 15th April 2007.

During these 24 hours period of activities, the AC power supply will be totally shut off due to security measures. We have been advised by TMNet to properly shut down all our servers and equipments before the activities take place at the said time. As a result, all web sites and
emails hosted on CBJ1 data center will be inaccessible during this planned maintenance.

How to know if your web site or server is affected?
=======================================
If your server IP is within the range 202.75.42.0/24 and 202.75.48.0/24, your server is hosted on CBJ1 data center and is affected by this planned maintenance. To get your server IP, you may perform a “PING” by referring to tutorial.

Notes: Clients hosted on CBJ2 and our US data center are not affected by this maintenance.

Dedicated Server & Server Co-location Clients
=======================================
You are advised to shut down your server by 6.45AM 14th April 2007, GMT +0800 before the maintenance starts to avoid any unexpected issues on your dedicated server hardware or Operating system. For Gold Managed dedicated server / co-location server clients, we will login to your server to power down the server by 6.45AM 14th April 2007, GMT +0800. Our
stationed engineer at Cyberjaya will help you to power on the server after the maintenance is completed.

For extra precautionary measures, we strongly advise our customer to do a backup on their critical data.

Please be assured that during this planned maintenance our Helpdesk will be accesible as usual and our engineers will also standby on site at the data center.

So all that I can say is, the site will be inaccessible during those mentioned days as my server IP is located as mentioned in the message. However in the second message stated that the maintenance has been postponed until further notice. But still, I just want to let you (all the subdomains under gempax.net and to visitors) know that any time in the near future the event will still take place. So please make any necessary backups or whatsoever, just in case okay? :D

  1. Takkan diorg bebetul nak shutdown the whole datacenter for 24 hours? That’s plain stupid. Bnyk businesses can go down… I think even though diorg nak buat maintenance, diorg should take all the steps to minimize site downtimes…. especially bila involve the whole datacenter.. :o

    Maintenance Time: 6:00AM (12th May) – 7.00AM (13th May), GMT 0800

    1. To Install 4 new PDU and 4 STS systems to provide more scalability.
    2. The end-to-end audit, assessment and re-commissioning of power
    infrastructure (from UPS, batteries, STS and PDU)
    3. To repair all damaged equipments due to previous incidents
    (involving 8 STSs and PDs units)
    4. To perform a mega test on cabling infrastructure (640 cables) to
    ensure all cabling infrastructure are fit for operation
    5. To migrate from old cabling infrastructure (known to have potential
    risk) to new cabling infrastructure
    6. To install Monitoring Systems (Sitescan) for the power
    infrastructure
    7. To allow for housekeeping and inventory update
    8. To get full audit report in response to previous incidents and
    update on the latest power infra condition (after repair and fix)

    Maintenance Impact:
    =======================================
    1. Maintenance will begin at 06.00AM Malaysian Time on Saturday, 12th
    May 2007. The work is expected to conclude within 24 hours, at
    approximately 07.00AM Malaysian Time, Sunday, 13th May 2007.

    2. On 11th May, between 7.00PM – 11.00PM, we will switch to temporary
    backup power provided by TMNet CBJ1 Data Center. The back up power has
    no guarantee for redundancy (as in normal power supply). The backup
    power served as alternative solution to avoid 24-hour or longer service
    downtime. Therefore the backup supply may not be applied to any SLA or
    Uptime Guarantee. Exabytes will however put our best effort to ensure the
    stability and reliability of the power supply. As we need to shutdown
    the server before we switch to the backup power, a down time of 5-10
    minutes is expected.

    3. We need to shut down the server for another 5-10 minutes on 13th May
    (Sunday) after the repair and audit activity is successfully completed
    for switching back to normal power supply.

  14. Ok aku pun baru dapat berita ni hari ni.. tp aku nyer timing lain plak.. dia kata semua server akan shutdown pukul 5PM hari Jumaat… online semula paling lewat pukul 12AM hari Ahad.. pergh..
